Reluctant to hear the Words of Jesus?
Dear child of God,
We so easily listen intently to what people have to say about many matters, but when it comes to truths of the Bible, we are so reluctant to listen and obey. It is as if we are more interested in the interpretations of men about many things, than to listen to the Words of Jesus. He said things that were soothing to the ear, but many a time even rebuked His listeners. May the Lord help us to willingly receive instruction. There will always be things that are not appealing to our flesh. Love to all ~ Uncle Jacques and Aunt Mary.
Matthew 17:5 ”While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them; and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud, saying, "This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. HEAR HIM!"
• Why are we at times so reluctant
to hear or read the Words
spoken by Jesus?
Is it not because we still
want to do the things that please us?
Isaiah 30:1 "Woe to the rebellious children," says the Lord, "Who take counsel, but not of Me, and who devise plans, but not of My Spirit, that they may add sin to sin…”
• Running after our own thoughts and plans,
even throughout our whole life span.
1 Corinthians 9:24 ”Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it.”
• Living to satisfy our own desires,
as we many a time,
light dangerous fires.
Some will even be prepared to
wade through life’s muck and mire.
Luke 8:18 "Therefore take heed how you hear. For whoever has, to him more will be given; and whoever does not have, even what he seems to have will be taken from him."
• When will we ever learn,
the Holy Words spoken by Jesus,
not to spurn,
to prevent our fingers to burn?
Mark 4:9 ”And He said to them, "He who has ears to hear, let him hear!"
• Is it not the time for many
to turn back to Jesus,
our Saviour, even the Christ,
and let our love for Him
once again arise.
Zechariah 1:3 "Therefore say to them, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts: "Return to Me," says the Lord of hosts, "and I will return to you," says the Lord of hosts.”
• Let us at this time lay aside,
all wrongful things that we tend to hide ~
In His wisdom, knowledge
and insights, to confide.
Hebrews 12:1 ”Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us…”
• At times we can be so foolish,
that we even become brutish;
while at His table He wants us to feast,
from the greatest to the least.
Psalms 73:22 ”I was so foolish and ignorant; I was like a beast before You.”
• Let us surrender all
that will prevents us to fall;
no more having a desire
for a worldly ”jol”.
Titus 2:11 – 13 ”For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ…”
• Living for Christ alone,
feeling in His presence at home;
no more to roam,
or even moan.
2 Corinthians 5:8 – 9 ”We are confident, yes, well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord. Therefore we make it our aim, whether present or absent, to be well pleasing to Him.”
